      Our Wrapping Paper Journey

      Our Wrapping Paper Journey

      Posted by Pollyanna Stevens
The environmental concerns that come with manufacturing wrapping paper has meant that we’ve resisted retailing it for some years now. Typically, wrapping paper is distributed in plastic packs containing 25 sheets — not exactly aligning with our recent move away from plastic packaging!
But, thanks to our wonderful printers, we managed to find a solution! Our wrapping paper is now being delivered directly to our office in bulk, with paper tabs marking batches of 25. And to avoid the environmental catastrophe that is plastic packaging, we’re hand-wrapping our sheets in kraft paper, which is 100% recyclable.
Obviously this is a bit more time-consuming, and a bit more expensive than simply using plastic packaging. But given the environmental costs of plastic waste, we think it’s worth it. We hope you agree!

      We've Planted 2500 Trees!

      We've Planted 2500 Trees!

In 2022 we celebrated our 25th anniversary and set ourselves the goal of planting 2500 trees to mark the occasion. It took a little bit longer than we expected, but we're so proud to announce that we've finally reached our target!

Take a look around the stunning Glen Affric where our trees have been planted here.

We've been blown away by the generosity of our customers, suppliers, agents, friends and family in helping us reach this goal. A special thank you to Alpha Colour Printers and Fenner Paper who donated an incredible 100 trees each.

Our trees were planted through the amazing charity Trees for Life, who are working on restoring the once-extensive Caledonian forest in the Scottish Highlands. Visit our grove page on their website here to find out more. We'd love to keep the donations going so please do add a tree if you're able to.

Our donations were made through our membership to 1% for the Planet. You can read about some of the other incredible environmental charities we've donated to on this blog.

Celebrating 25 Years with 2500 Trees

Celebrating 25 Years with 2500 Trees

2022 marks our 25th anniversary of publishing cards! We wanted to celebrate the occasion in a meaningful way that reflected our values as a business. After a little bit of thought we decided to set ourselves the ambitious goal of planting 2500 trees in our 25th year.

Reducing our environmental impact has become increasingly important to us in the last few years. Reaching our goal of planting 2500 trees would be a great way to celebrate 25 years.

We have created a grove of trees with the fantastic charity Trees for Life. For every donation of £6, Trees for Life plant a tree in a protected site in the Scottish highlands within 12 months. We've started our grove with a donation of 231 trees, and will be donating more throughout the year.

We know our suppliers and customers share the same environmental concerns that we do, and we're hoping with your help we'll be able to reach our goal of 2500 trees. Everyone who makes a donation, small or large, will be featured on our grove page here.

We're really excited to see our grove of trees grow, and we're hugely grateful to anyone who is able to help. If you would like to plant a tree (or a few!) in our grove you can do so here.

      Trees for Life

We are delighted to have created a grove with Trees for Life.

Trees for life are rewilding the Scottish Highlands by enabling the restoration of the globally unique Caledonian Forest, which once covered much of Scotland. Their ongoing projects involve planting trees, reintroducing wildlife and providing rewilding training.

Our grove currently contains 231 trees, which will be carefully planted in protected sites in Glen Affric in the Scottish Highlands, often considered Scotland's most beautiful glen. The trees will be a healthy mixture of native species, including Scots pine, oak, hazel and aspen, which create homes for wildlife and forests for the future.

You can visit our grove here, and we would be delighted if you would like to help Trees for Life with their work by planting a tree, which you can do at the bottom of our grove page.

      Easter Cards for Ukraine

      Easter Cards for Ukraine

Like so many people around the world, we have been thinking about what we can do to help those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. Inspired by the colours of the Ukrainian flag, we decided to create a limited edition Easter card pack to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Each pack costs £7 and 100% of this will be donated to the DEC.

At the time of writing at least 3 million people have fled their homes in Ukraine. Donations will help DEC charities provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families.

The Easter cards were designed by artist Klara Hawkins. Each pack contains three blue bunny designs and three yellow chicken designs, with kraft paper envelopes. They will be available to buy on our website here until Friday 8th April.
